In 2024, nearly 40% of suspects in school violence cases across Germany did not hold German citizenship, according to government data released in response to a parliamentary query. Of the 11,558 suspects identified, 4,254 were foreign nationals, including 1,236 Syrians and 421 Afghans. The total number of violent incidents recorded at schools last year reached 35,570, averaging nearly 100 cases per day. Some incidents involved multiple suspects. Over 740 of the crimes involved knife attacks, according to the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
